MegaStyles™: The Week in Fashion (04.18.03)

Just when you thought award season was over comes…an award that will actually make a difference in your life. Unlike the Oscars, Emmy’s, or Golden Globes, this award will help you 1) find more ways to piss away money online, 2) distract yourself when you should be working, and, most importantly, 3) make you a more informed, fabulous fashionphile. What am I talking about? The Webby Awards.

What it is:
Dubbed “the only awards show for Internet sites that matters,” by the LA Times, the Webby Awards is the net equivalent of the Oscars. Each year it honors the best sites in 30 categories, from online activism to web zines. Sites are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences; members include David Bowie, Richard Branson, and “The Simpsons” creator, Matt Groening. People’s Voice awards are also given in each category, reflecting the voice of, uh, the people.
