MegaStyles™: The Week in Fashion (07.20.03)

Shows You Will Never See On The Style Network

The Look For Less, with guest star Anna Wintour:

Reigning queen of fashion Anna Wintour teams up with perky but unfortunately named Elizabeth Filarski Hasselbeck and heads to Target, where she goes head to head with the host in a style challenge.  Note to Liz: let her win or you might get a crocodile Manolo to the head.  Stay tuned for Anna’s field trip to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /> L.A. where she’ll take the $100 style challenge at the Van Nuys flea market and get piggy back rides from irascible fashion twins Chip and Pepper.  Wednesdays, 9pm EST.

You’re Not Invited

Join Real World New York (I) alum (and former host of MTV’s “The Grind”)  Eric Nies as he hits the road to discover all the places a Style Network camera crew won’t work as free admission.   Watch the relentlessly fame-obsessed Nies as he attempts to cross some of the tightest velvet ropes around (the Vanity Fair Oscar party, a White House Red Cross benefit, Thanksgiving dinner with Oprah and Stedman) and learns some places will deny you even after you take off your shirt and flex.  Thursdays, 6pm EST.

Nigella Bites:  Food if you want to actually fit into the clothes shown on every other Style Network show

Voluptuous gourmet Lawson puts down the deep fried anchovies and five layer trifle and picks up the calorie counter.  Special recipes include Bok Choy Bliss and Wheat-free Dairy-free Gluten-free Sticky Toffee Pudding.  New sidekick David Kirsch of the Madison Square Gym joins Lawson as Kitchen Nazi to yell at her if she licks the bowl or sneaks down for midnight snacks.  Tuesdays, 7pm EST.

Fashiontrance: Mercedes-Benz presents the looks from Greenland , Fall 2003

Style Network captures the fiercest catwalks in Greenland from the white-hot capital of Godthåb and sets the shows to searing yodel techno.  This fall, there’s a wool dirndl to please every druid, and get ready to drool over Chanel’s authentic elk-gut snowshoes.  Don’t miss the sled dog fashion finale.  Saturdays, 2pm EST.

Style Essentials: Fuck Me Shoes

Like flattering jeans and a little black dress, fuck me shoes are a must-have in every girl’s closet.  Join “Ladies Love” Lloyd Boston with special guest Candace Bushnell as they troll Manhattan for the perfect pair.  Cosmos and a tour of the city’s most, uh, spacious bathrooms to follow.  Thursdays 8pm and Sundays 3pm, EST.

Little Gems:  Looking for a new signature scent but don’t want to go the big brand route and smell like everyone else?  Check out www.aedes.com for eclectic, hard-to-find scents from Creed, Diptique, and lots of French perfumers with long complicated names.  Don’t worry, Aedes lets you try before you buy: for $12.50, you can order a sample set with up to seven different fragrances.

MegaStyles™ Musings:  Madonna and the Gap.  Looks like Madge remembered she was Miss “American Pie” about three years ago.  Does this mean she’ll drop the faux-Brit accent for the ads too?  Gap, I know we’re through, but for your own sake I hope this little fling works out.  No really, I do.
