Because Children on the Upper East Side Don't Get Enough Attention
As if there wasn't enough fashion to write about this week, the NYT Style Section wasted valuable inches on some horribly overpriced baby strollers. The paper that gave the nation "metrosexual" introduced critical terms such as "stroller lust"and "conspicuous conception" into the vernacular.
A sad sad woman: "If I see a stroller I like, I will search literally to the ends of the earth to find it...When I see a beautiful stroller, I have to touch it, I have to push it. Parents flip because they think I want to steal their babies." Janet McLaughlin, a television writer known in chat rooms as the Stroller Queen of Santa Monica.
